Why We Started Test Double
Software is broken, and we're working hard to fix it. At Test Double, our mission is to improve the way the world builds software. While the goal may seem audacious, it’s what drives us. We believe that the current state of software development is not good enough and we’re looking for others to join our cause.
Core Values
Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are among our core values. We're proud to support our Double Agents when they speak at conferences, blog, contribute to open source, and organize in their local software community. Another core value is that we’re owners. We own problems and solutions. And we’re all actual owners, because Test Double is 100% employee-owned through an ESOP.
Our Culture
Test Double is a small, growing, and adaptable agency. We actively enlist the help of all of our developers to guide and improve our business. Those opportunities include participating in our candidate qualification process, strategic expansion with our current clients, and active involvement to support equity, diversity and inclusion.
Central to our success over 10 years as a growing company is focusing on people first. We want all of our Double Agents to feel happy, healthy, and supported. Work-life balance is paramount to achieving this goal. We provide ample opportunities for our developers to feel engaged, including employee resource groups centered around interpersonal growth, weekly team hangouts to learn a new skill, coffee chats to meet other team members, TD Connect internal events, and much more.
Improve how the world builds software by leading transformational client engagements
Test Double is seeking an exceptional Principal Product Consultant to help solve our clients’ most complex product challenges while expanding our capabilities in areas like artificial intelligence, commercialization, and organizational scaling. As a Principal Product Consultant, you'll embed with client teams as both a strategic advisor and hands-on product leader, helping organizations improve how they build and grow products while leaving every engagement better than you found it.
Your mission as a Principal Product Consultant
Partner with clients as a strategic advisor
Operate as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels — from product teams to executives. You’ll shape product direction, connect outcomes to business performance, and align decision-makers through clear communication of strategy, decisions, tradeoffs, and results. You’ll establish how outcomes are measured and governed across teams, products, or portfolios.
Shape compelling solutions across multiple engagements of all sizes
Own product outcomes directly when needed while also leading across teams. You’ll define strategy, guide execution, and introduce repeatable practices across discovery, delivery, and measurement that help teams operate effectively long after your engagement ends.
Support revenue growth through authentic relationships
Identify and drive growth opportunities — from improving a single product’s performance to shaping broader investment decisions — through authentic client partnerships. You’ll use data, experimentation, and market insight to turn ambiguous opportunities into measurable results.
Drive strategic transformation on our most challenging engagements
Step into complex environments and bring clarity to products and teams with no clear path forward. Whether improving discovery, execution, or team effectiveness, you’ll identify what’s not working and leave behind systems that sustain outcomes beyond your involvement.
Develop the next generation of empathetic collaborators
Mentor product managers and cross-functional partners through direct collaboration. You’ll model strong product thinking, improve how teams make decisions, and help others grow without becoming a bottleneck.
What you bring to Test Double
Strong product fundamentals with the ability to operate across levels
You can define vision and strategic priorities grounded in customer and market evidence. You guide execution while connecting product decisions to validated user needs, business goals, and investment priorities.
Experience leading and coaching
You’ve driven alignment in complex environments and helped multi-team organizations improve how they operate through outcome-driven behaviors. You create clarity, build momentum, and help teams and leaders grow through direct, actionable feedback.
Proven ability to scale product systems and practices
You’ve introduced or improved ways of working across discovery, execution, and measurement that enable teams and organizations to perform more effectively. You set standards for evidence quality, verification, and decision hygiene so the organization makes better decisions after you leave, not just the same decisions faster.
Experience operating in and building product leadership functions
You can step into interim product leadership roles (Director or VP of Product) and guide organizations through ambiguity. You’ve established product management practices, hiring criteria, and performance expectations that scale beyond your engagement.
Ownership of product commercialization
You've owned top-line growth and commercial viability by running pricing, packaging, and business-model experiments with evidence. You’ve partnered directly with marketing and sales on positioning, differentiation, and GTM. You can re-shape pricing and packaging when AI changes cost-to-serve, value capture, or unit economics.
AI Product and Workflow Fluency
You’ve helped organizations build AI products responsibly and adapt to the operational changes AI creates. You also use AI extensively in your own product practice — building reusable workflows, decision frameworks, and experimentation systems that improve how teams research, prioritize, validate, and execute while keeping assumptions and tradeoffs visible and inspectable.
Alignment with Test Double's values and culture
You operate with empathy, clarity, and integrity, and care about building sustainable systems that leave teams stronger than you found them.
